General Information:

Creatinine is a waste product produced by the breakdown of creatine in the muscles.  Because creatinine is normally excreted from the body through the kidneys, measuring creatinine levels is a way of evaluating kidney function.  This test can help to evaluate how much creatinine is being filtered out of the body in the urine.
