If you need testing ask for STD panels that include gonorrhea.

General information:

Gonorrhea (also called tripe) is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Contagion with this disease can only happen during sexual intercourse. Common symptoms in men include burning when urinating and discharge from the penis. In women, on the other hand, the disease is initially asymptomatic or vaginal discharge and pelvic pain are observed. If the disease is not treated, it can lead to additional complications such as epididymitis (inflammation of the epididymis in men), the occurrence of infections in the pelvic area, affecting the joints and the heart.

Sample required:

Cervical secretion (collected by gynecologist in PCR transport medium), urethral secretion (collected by specialist with urethral swab in PCR transport medium), ejaculate/prostatic secretion (screw container);
Urine: first stream in screw container. The PCR medium provides optimal conditions for material transport, increases quality and reduces the risk of false negative results! The laboratory provides the environment free of charge upon patient/physician request. For PCR testing, the use of plastic/dacron/polyethylene swabs is recommended. Wooden and cotton swabs are not accepted.
