General information:

Echinococcosis is a parasite that develops and spreads among animals, but it is possible that it can also affect humans.
Human echinococcosis is caused by the larval stage of tapeworms of the genus Echinococcus.

A person is infected orally. This happens through direct contact with an infected dog, consumption of poorly washed fruits and vegetables, drinking water from open reservoirs, etc.
Echinococcal cysts can develop in all organs. They exert a mechano-traumatic effect, dystrophic changes and disorders in the blood circulation of the affected organs.

According to the degree of development of echinococcosis, the following stages are distinguished:

  • Latent stage - incubation period, proceeds asymptomatically;
  • Stage of subjective complaints;
  • Stage of objective complaints and complications.
