General Information:

Culture testing to isolate bacteria. It requires special conditions and a prolonged period of other microorganisms, so it is sought separately.
There are many types of herpes, but more cases the of disease are caused by Yersinia enterocolitica. The disease is called hersinia, its other name is "refrigerator disease", implying the ability of the bacteria to exist at lower temperatures. It is associated with the consumption of food or water contaminated with yerpsy.

A baby or toddler may be infected if a parent or other person who has used contaminated food has not washed his hands and then has prepared the food.

Other risk factors include:

  • consumption of food contaminated with bacteria, specially prepared from raw or semi-raw pork products
  • swallowing contaminated water
  • consumption of contaminated unpasteurized milk or products thereof
  • little children, putting their hands in their mouths while playing with pets

The most common symptoms in children are:

  • temperature
  • abdominal pain similar to appendicitis
  • diarrhoea, also bloody

In adults and older children:

  • right ventricular pain lasting more than 3 weeks
  • subfertility
  • rare, messy stools

Complications are relatively rare:

  • rash
  • chronic joint pains
  • bacteraemia

At Laborexpress 2000, we provide a timely diagnosis and an antibiogram for the causative agent.
