General Information:

Rotaviruses are the most common causes of acute viral diarrhoea.
One of the few viruses that cause limited gastroenteritis (isolated inflammation of the stomach and small intestine only, without the involvement of the colon). This also determines the clinical picture-vomiting and watery diarrhoea, unlike the diarrhoea that is mostly coughing. Liquid losses can be dramatic and death from dehydration is not unusual, especially in developing countries. In the world, the frequency of rotavirus infections reaches 125 million cases of childhood diarrhoea per year. Rotavirus is the most common cause of dehydration in children as a result of global gastroenteritis. More than 2 million children under 5 years of age are hospitalized annually for rotavirus gastroenteritis, and about 500,000 children die of this disease. The source of infection is sick and healthy contaminants. The mechanism of transmission of the infection is faecal-oral (by excretion of viruses with lesions and subsequent ingestion by oral ingestion) and contact-by contact of infectious materials with the hand and then in the mouth. All ages are acceptable, but most often Infected if they are ill, they usually have several days of nausea, dizziness and abdominal pain. Diarrhoea is a less important symptom in adults than in children.
Adenovirus infections are widespread. Most often they affect young people and children, especially early childhood.

The source of the infection is sick people and asymptomatic carriers. The transmission mechanism of the infection is faecal-oral, the main transmission factors being air, milk, water, food, contaminated hands.
When the infection enters the digestive system, a lytic epithelial cell infection occurs through induced cytolysis, cytokine production and induction of the inflammatory response.
The clinical picture is dominated by fever, abdominal pain and watery diarrhoea, which usually resolve within 1-2 weeks. Mesenteric lymphadenitis, irritable bowel syndrome and intussusception may occur.
