General Information:

 

Pathogenic bacteria is being tested. In the presence of a positive result of the microbiological test, the sensitivity of the isolated microorganisms to the medication (antibacterial) is determined in order to select the most appropriate treatment.

Micro-organisms responsible for upper respiratory tract infections and/or colonisers:

Potential pathogens colonizing the nasal mucosa and subject of the study of nasal secretion

  • S.pyogenes 
  • beta-hemolytic streptococci gr.C, G
  • S.pneumoniae
  • M.catarrhalis

  • N.meningitidis
  • Enterobacteriaceae

Acute sinusitis

  • S.pneumoniae

Chronic sinusitis

Sample Required:

Sterile swabs (spectacles), a separate pad is required for each nostril. Please mark which is the left and the right one.
At least 12 hours before sampling, nasal cavities should not be treated with medication.
The patient/parent / covers two nose sides laterally and raises them upwards until the nostrils dissolve well. The swab penetrates carefully into the cavity of one nostril, a rotating motion is performed and the sponge sticks to the swab.
Be careful not to touch the outside of the nose when pulling out.

Transport within 2 hours is recommended. In case of delay, it can be left in the refrigerator at 2-8 ° C for up to 72 hours.
