General information:

Antigen membrane-based immune test for borreliosis. The test gives direct detection in a tick for the causative agents of the genus Borrelia (B.garinii, B.afzelii, B.burgdorferi sensu stricto, B.spielmanii). The test is recommended in cases of tick bite and patients/GP wish to know if the specific tick is a carrier of the causative agent of Lyme disease. After a tick bite, even if it is infected with Borrelia, the risk of infection is about 10%. The risk is higher when the tick stays for a longer time and at removing it, its integrity is violated.

Sample required:

Tick, preferably not soaked in alcohol or other liquids

Key words:

borellia, tick bite
